The Galloway News is a tabloid newspaper distributed in and around Dumfries & Galloway, particularly in the Stewartry of Kirkcudbright. The newspaper also sold in Newton Stewart, Gatehouse of Fleet, Castle Douglas and Dalbeattie, and extends as far inland as Thornhill and Carsphairn. The newspaper was first published in 1858 and its currently published by Scottish & Universal Newspapers. About Galloway
Galloway is an area in southwestern Scotland. It refers to the former counties of Wigtown and Kirkcudbright. It is part of the Dumfries and Galloway council area of Scotland. Galloway is surrounded by sea to the west and south, the Galloway Hills to the north and the River Nith to the east. Galloway has 150 miles of rugged coastline and a vast range of largely uninhabited hills to the North, as a result the region has always been slightly isolated.
