Microsoft’s mobile operating system has been around for over ten years and it was a dominant force in their smartphone market. But since Apple’s iPhone came out it has revolutionised the smartphone market and altered the way we think about smartphones. It was followed by Google’s increasingly popular mobile platform Android. Windows mobile devices didn’t have the capability to compete with the new breed of smartphones.
But this is about to change because Microsoft is introducing their new phone today Windows Phone 7. With Windows Phone 7 Microsoft has created a complete new finger friendly UI, which also enables easy integration with Xbox Live and Bing as well as social networks such as Facebook. The actual devices that will be powered by Windows Phone 7 are Samsung, HTC and LG.
It all sounds promising but whether it could compete with Apples’ iPhone and Googles’ Android is something we all have to wait and see.
